The Professional Commission invited professional photographers to explore this year's theme Scarcity-Waste through a compelling series of images and a creative project proposal.

All entries were judged by a distinguished international panel chaired by the author and curator William A. Ewing. The jury selected the 3 finalists in the Professional Commission for their impressive quality and captivating interpretation of this year’s theme “Scarcity-Waste”. Winners will be announced in March 2015 at an Awards ceremony and exhibition at Somerset House, London.

They jury awards three prizes in the Professional Commission category:

  • 1st prize: US$15,000, plus up to US$25,000 for the commission project
  • 2nd prize: US$10,000
  • 3rd prize: US$5,000

In addition to the monetary award, the winner of the first prize will receive a commission worth up to an additional US $25,000 to explore the theme Scarcity-Waste in a more in-depth way.

The winners will have their work featured in the International New York Times and showcased at an exhibition at Somerset House London in March 2015.
