This product label is compliant with the CPA Voluntary Initiative (VI) guidance.
The following tank mixes have been tested for physical compatibility with DUAL GOLD at recommended rates of use and will mix in the sprayer tank. No tests have been undertaken on crop safety or product performance therefore, use is at the user’s own risk. Syngenta UK Ltd will support 2-way tank mixes of DUAL GOLD with any of the herbicides and insecticides listed. For further information on compatibilities, contact Syngenta UK Ltd on 0800 1696058.
Syngenta UK Ltd will support the tank mixing of any of the named trace elements with an existing 2 way tank mix including DUAL GOLD. Syngenta UK Ltd advise that the trace element part of the tank mix is added to the sprayer tank last with constant agitation and the mixture is sprayed without delay.

Before using any tank mixture, consult and comply with the recommendations of the partner products. Each product should be added separately to the bulk of the water in the spray tank and thoroughly mixed before adding the next chemical. Always use constant agitation of the sprayer tank during mixing, transportation and application. Spray immediately.

IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be carefully read in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.
DUAL GOLD is a soil acting herbicide and is taken up by weed roots. It is active against a range of annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds in maize production.

DUAL GOLD can be used on all varieties of maize.
Use DUAL GOLD pre-emergence of the crop and weeds.
Rates of use
Forage and Grain Maize
Use pre-crop emergence for annual meadow-grass, some annual grasses and some broadleaved weed control.
Apply DUAL GOLD post drilling and pre-crop emergence when soils are moist or rain is expected imminently. Do not apply DUAL GOLD at the point of emergence of the crop.
Cockspur grass should not be beyond the 1–2 leaf stage at the time of application.
1.4 l/ha DUAL GOLD.
Use of adjuvants
No adjuvant is needed with DUAL GOLD.
There are no known adverse effects to following crops after the application of DUAL GOLD to maize.
MIXING AND SPRAYING
Make sure the sprayer is set to give an even application at the correct volume. Fill the spray tank with half the required volume of water and begin agitation. Add the required amount of DUAL GOLD to the spray tank and allow to disperse before adding any other product.
Add the rest of the water and continue to agitate the mixture thoroughly. Always agitate during spraying.
Spray DUAL GOLD in 200–400 litres of water per hectare.
Apply through a conventional field crop sprayer using a pressure of 2-3 bars. Ensure the sprayer is correctly calibrated before use.
Do not leave spray liquid in the sprayer for long periods (i.e. overnight).
It is important to wash equipment thoroughly after use to remove all traces of DUAL GOLD as even small amounts may cause damage to crops. Rinse inside of tank with clean water using at least one tenth of the spray tank volume. After flushing through pump and spray lines, drain and repeat procedure.
Disposal of spray tank washings should be in accordance with local or national legislation.

The products should be added separately to the bulk of water in the spray tank. Continuous agitation should be maintained and the products used immediately after mixing.
This product is to be used only in accordance with the recommendations and instructions given on the labels provided in this pack.

(a) Operator protection
Engineering control of operator exposure must be used where reasonably practicable in addition to the following Personal Protective Equipment:
WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND FACE PROTECTION (FACESHIELD) when handling the concentrate.
WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE GLOVES when handling contaminated surfaces.
However, engineering controls may replace personal protective equipment if a COSHH assessment shows they provide an equal or higher standard of protection.
WHEN USING DO NOT EAT, DRINK OR SMOKE.
WASH SPLASHES from skin immediately.
WASH HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN before meals and after work.
(b) Environmental protection
Do not contaminate water with the product or its container. Do not clean application equipment near surface water. Avoid contamination via drains from farmyards and roads.
DO NOT ALLOW DIRECT SPRAY from horizontal boom sprayers to fall within 5 m of the top of the bank of a static or flowing water body, unless a Local Environmental Risk Assessment for Pesticides (LERAP) permits a narrower buffer zone, or within 1 m of the top of a ditch which is dry at the time of application. DO NOT ALLOW DIRECT SPRAY from hand-held sprayers to fall within 1 m of the top of the bank of a static or flowing water body. Aim spray away from water.
This product qualifies for inclusion within the Local Environmental Risk Assessment for Pesticides (LERAP) scheme. Before each spraying operation from a horizontal boom sprayer, either a LERAP must be carried out in accordance with CRD’s published guidance or the statutory buffer zone must be maintained. The results of the LERAP must be recorded and kept available for three years.
(c) Storage and disposal
RINSE CONTAINER THOROUGHLY by using an integrated pressure rinsing device or manually rinsing three times. Add washings to sprayer at time of filling and dispose of safely.
KEEP IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER tightly closed in a safe place.
EMPTY CONTAINER COMPLETELY, and dispose of safely.
THE (COSHH) CONTROL OF SUBSTANCES HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH REGULATIONS MAY APPLY TO THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT AT WORK.

3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
May cause sensitisation by skin contact. Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Have the product container, label or Material Safety Data Sheet with you when calling the Syngenta emergency number, a Poison Control Centre or physician, or going for treatment.
Remove to fresh air. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial
respiration. Keep patient warm and at rest. Call a physician or Poison Control Centre immediately.
Take off all contaminated clothing immediately. Wash off immediately with plenty of water. If skin irritation persists, call a physician. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.
Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses. Immediate medical attention is required.
If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label. Do NOT induce vomiting.
There is no specific antidote available. Treat symptomatically.
5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Use alcohol-resistant foam or water spray.

Specific hazards during fire fighting:
As the product contains combustible organic components, fire will produce dense black smoke containing hazardous products of combustion (see section 10). Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health.
Special protective equipment for fire fighters:
In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses. Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Refer to protective measures listed in sections 7 and 8.
Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.
Methods for cleaning up:
Contain and collect spillage with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local/national regulations (see section 13).
If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Advice on safe handling:
No special technical protective measures required. No special handling advice required. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. For personal protection see section 8.
Requirements for storage areas and containers:
No special storage conditions required. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep out of the reach of children. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

Containment and/or segregation is the most reliable technical protection measure if exposure cannot be eliminated. The extent of these protection measures depends on the actual risks in use. If airborne mists or vapours are generated, use local exhaust ventilation controls. Assess exposure and use any additional measures to keep airborne levels below any relevant exposure limit. Where necessary, seek additional occupational hygiene advice.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
When using this product refer to the label for details. In all other cases, use the following Personal Protective Equipment:
The use of technical measures should always have priority over the use of personal protective equipment. When selecting personal protective equipment, seek appropriate professional advice. Personal protective equipment should be certified to appropriate standards.
No personal respiratory protective equipment normally required. A particulate filter respirator may be necessary until effective technical measures are installed.
Chemical resistant gloves should be used. Gloves should be certified to an appropriate standard. Gloves should have a minimum breakthrough time that is appropriate to the duration of exposure. The breakthrough time of gloves varies according to the thickness, material and manufacturer. Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough. Suitable material nitrile rubber.
Eye protection is not usually required. Follow any site specific eye protection policies.
Skin and body protection:
Assess the exposure and select chemical resistant clothing based on the potential for contact and the permeation/penetration characteristics of the clothing material. Wash with soap and water after removing protective clothing. Decontaminate clothing before re-use, or use disposable equipment (suits, aprons, sleeves, boots, etc.) Wear as appropriate: impervious suit.

SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER
S-metolachlor has low persistence in soil and has moderate mobility depending on the soil type.
Use of DUAL GOLD according to the label instruction presents a low risk to groundwater.
DUAL GOLD is of moderate toxicity to earthworms. No risk management is necessary as the risk to earthworms is low.
DUAL GOLD is unlikely to have any long-term effect on soil microbial activity. The risk is therefore considered to be low when DUAL GOLD is used according to the label instructions. No risk management is necessary.
Care should be taken to minimise spray drift. No effects on non-target plant species are expected when DUAL GOLD is used as recommended.
