Oriline l

Product guide

Orius laevigatus is a standard corrective treatment for Thrips in glasshouse crops. The main target is Western Flower Thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis). Orius is often released as a follow up treatment to Amblyseius cucumeris or Amblyseius swirskii. The bugs are supplied in bottles containing 500 or 1,000 adults and late instar nymphs packed in a buckwheat & vermiculite carrier. A protein food source in the bottles ensures optimal condition of the bugs on delivery. This product is also available as 2,000 1st and 2nd instar nymphs, for quicker establishment in the crop. Oriline is reared under the “ACTIV” system which gives fast establishment in crops.

General Information

Orius is a predatory bug that is often used in a programme with predatory mites in crops such as peppers where it will quickly establish when feeding on the target pest and pollen. The introduction of Amblyseius cucumeris/ A swirskii will control young thrips and the Orius will compliment this by predating on both the juveniles and the adult thrips.
